What makes it special?

A little bit like sun protection, moisturiser is so personal. What one person loves, another person loathes. It’s for that reason that I like to keep a spectrum of different moisturisers in The Curatory so that there is something for everyone. At the same time I also have to make sure that the product doesn’t just feel nice on your skin but is also effective and offers value.

Mesoestetic have found a balance that many manufacturers and formulators really struggle with and the result is this product is both objectively hydrating whilst also feeling really very nice to use.

Key ingredients

Hyaluronic Acid is a moisturising ingredient that helps boost hydration in the skin when combined with other moisturising agents. It falls into the category of humectant moisturisers that draw water into the upper layers of the skin. Works best when combined with emollient and occlusive moisturisers.

Squalane is a lipid (oil) that almost perfectly matches some of the lipids found in the skin barrier. Aside from being a lovely carrier solution for active ingredients it also supports the skin barrier and keeps the deeper layers of the skin hydrated. It acts as both an emollient and a very mild occlusive.

Glycerin has strong evidence for its ability to attract and retain water within the skin, improving hydration and supporting the barrier. Its benefits are well documented in dermatology, and regular use helps reduce dryness, improve skin comfort and maintain a healthy, resilient skin barrier across all skin types.

Malachite Extract is rich in copper, a trace element involved in antioxidant defence and skin health. In skincare it is primarily used to help neutralise oxidative stress caused by pollution and environmental exposure. While laboratory and small-scale studies suggest antioxidant and protective effects, high-quality clinical data in topical skincare is limited, so its benefits are best considered supportive rather than therapeutic.

There is no limit to how frequently or how much you can use Hydra-Vital Light. For most people if you’re using it as a daily moisturiser then a large pea-sized amount (roughly a single pump) for the face and a little extra for the neck will suffice either once or twice a day.

If you have recently had a procedure then you may need to use more product more frequently but be led by how your skin is feeling.

Moisturising should come towards the end of your skincare routine, either as the last stage in your evening routine or just before applying SPF in the morning.

Gently remove make up with a micellar water or oil/balm cleanser
