This is a multi-purpose anti-oxidant formulated to help prevent and treat pigmentation related to aging changes and cumulative sun exposure. It is an incredibly light weight, almost watery serum that absorbs into your skin almost immediately leaving an undetectable finish on your skin meaning that there is no other product or make up that won’t sit well on top of it. 

The main superhero ingredient here is an incredibly stable form of Vitamin C called 3-0-ethylascorbic acid which is suitable for even the most sensitive skin. Also sitting at the forefront is niacinamide and shikimic acid which help to maintain the skin barrier, reduce inflammation, prevent and improve pigmentation and very gently exfoliate dead skin cells from the skin’s surface.

I’m a big fan of products that pack a punch and are loaded with secondary benefits. The Mesoestetic Age Brightening Concentrate epitomises this and is beyond easy to use. It’s a potent antioxidant helping to prevent aging changes but will also help prevent and to a degree even treat hyperpigmentation, help restore the skin barrier and all whilst causing little to no irritation or breakouts.

It sounds like such a small thing but I love products that also feel good on the skin, the drops are so thin that it sinks in almost immediately without leaving any residue meaning you’re free to apply the next step of your routine after just a couple of minutes. Key ingredients

3-0-Ethyl Ascorbic Acid is the younger, slightly less well known but arguably cooler and definitely more stable cousin to L-ascorbic acid. Because it's more stable it means the formulation doesn't have to be quite as acidic meaning it's better for sensitive skin types while still having a potent anti-oxidant and brightening effect.

Niacinamide is a jack of all trades ingredient. Most of its evidence base is for improving pigmentation but also acts as an anti-oxidant ingredient helping to reduce redness and inflammation as well as supporting skin barrier function.

Shikimic Acid is part of the AHA (alpha hydroxy acid) family which also includes glycolic acid, lactic acid et al. These are known to chemically exfoliate and rid the very top layer of the skin from dead skin cells. All AHAs do this to varying degrees with other secondary benefits but shikimic acid is known to do this exceedingly gently. This means that you can use products containing shikimic acid daily with little to no risk of sensitivity.

Application Instructions

As it’s such a thin product it should be applied early in your routine and can be used both morning and evening. After cleansing (and toning if this is in your routine) use the pipette and pop 5-6 drops in the palm of your hand. Using a finger on the other hand gently massage the product into your face and neck - you’ll need a couple more drops if you want to treat your chest. Allow to dry for a couple of minutes before applying any other products over the top.

You shouldn’t be getting any irritation with this product but worth starting with once daily use for the first two weeks before building up to twice daily. 

Although the concentration of AHAs (shikimic acid in this case) are relatively low you should be even more vigilant with sun protection than usual whilst using this product.

A big no-no for this product (or any others that have a pipette) is to not let the pipette touch your skin, be it your hand or your face - although the products are well preserved we don’t want any bacteria growing in it.
