Our way of saying thank you as you build your skincare routine with The Curatory.

How Curatory Credit works

Why I chose it

Vitamin C serums can be difficult to compare because the derivative, concentration, supporting ingredients and base all affect how the finished product performs and feels. C-Tetra Luxe earns its place because it combines a stable vitamin C derivative with a nourishing oil base that still absorbs well.

The ingredients that make this special

A closer look at the ingredients doing the most meaningful work in this formula—and what the evidence can reasonably tell us.

Tetrahexyldecyl Ascorbate

An oil-soluble form of vitamin C that provides antioxidant support.

Read the clinical context

Tetrahexyldecyl ascorbate is an oil-soluble form of vitamin C. It provides antioxidant support and over time may help improve the appearance of uneven tone. Although it has been less extensively studied than L-ascorbic acid, it still has a good evidence base and is more suitable for those with sensitive skin.

Squalane

Squalane is a lightweight emollient that helps soften the skin and reduce moisture loss.

Read the clinical context

Squalane is a stable emollient similar to lipids found naturally at the skin surface. It helps soften the outer skin and reduce moisture loss without implying action in deeper layers.

Vitamin E

An antioxidant that also helps soften the skin.

Read the clinical context

Vitamin E is an antioxidant that also helps soften the skin. Its exact role depends on the rest of the formula, but it does not need to be paired with Vitamin C to be useful.

Red Ginseng

A botanical antioxidant included to support a more even-looking skin tone.

Read the clinical context

Red ginseng contains antioxidant compounds and is used in formulas aimed at uneven tone. There is some early evidence for pigment-related effects, but I would view it as a supporting ingredient alongside the vitamin C rather than the main reason to choose the product.

Maracuja Oil

A lightweight plant oil that helps soften the skin and reduce moisture loss.

Read the clinical context

Maracuja oil contains emollient fatty acids that help soften the skin and reduce moisture loss. It also contains antioxidant compounds, although its main contribution here is helping the formula feel more nourishing.

More about Medik8

Medik8 develops and manufactures virtually all of its products at its ISO-certified innovation centre near London. Its in-house scientists focus on formulation, stability and ingredient delivery rather than following a trend simply because it is popular.

That work is visible across several of its best-known ranges: the progressive Crystal Retinal strength ladder; C-Tetra serums built around a stable form of vitamin C; its research into peptide combinations and delivery; and high-quality daily sunscreens designed to make reliable UVA and UVB protection easier to use consistently. The products do different jobs, but they share a useful principle: thoughtful formulation should help proven ingredients fit into real routines.
