Why this product — and when another may suit you better.

This is a tinted mineral-based sun protection designed specifically for people who need additional protection from the sun including those with pigmentation. It has incredibly high UVB protection (131) and UVA protection (67) as well as protection from infrared at visible light. The tint helps minimise the risk of white cast on the skin as well as acting as very light coverage that will suit all but the darkest skin tones. In addition the sun protection also contains Azeloglycine (a mix of azelaic acid and glycine) to help dampen down melanocyte activity. By itself it’s not going to get rid of pigmentation but will help support treatment along side more targeted treatments.

Why it made The Curatory

I have complete faith (backed up by evidence) for Mesoestetic’s formulations - when it comes to SPF this is the Rolls Royce of products - this is also reflected in its price but you really do get what you pay for with this product. It’s quite hard to find SPF with such high protection that also sits well on the skin and makes you want to keep reapplying it. The addition of Azeloglycine - a pigmentation and hydration agent in its own right is an added benefit. Likely not enough to treat pigmentation by itself in addition to the rest of your routine will work wonders.

How to introduce it

You’ll want to give the bottle a vigorous shake and squeeze out two finger lengths (carefully it comes out quickly!) of product onto your hand to apply to your face (all the way into your hairline), neck, ears and eyelids and massage gently.

It’s normal for the tint to look a little “caramel” when it first goes on but this will settle with some massage and should have evened out after a few minutes.

Depending on your skin type or how your skin is feeling on the day you may find that this will suffice as a light moisturiser although if your skin is feeling even slightly dry then you’ll want to moisturise first followed by this.

As with all SPF the advice is to reapply every two hours - I know that this sounds overwhelming but do try to apply as often as possible particularly if you are outdoors, have been sweating, have been in water or have towelled your face.
