Our way of saying thank you as you build your skincare routine with The Curatory.

How Curatory Credit works

Why I chose it

Cleanser is an easy place to make a routine harsher than it needs to be. I chose this as a straightforward option if your skin is dry, sensitive, reactive or becoming more sensitive because of retinoids, exfoliants or recent treatments.

If you’re uncertain, follow your practitioner’s advice on what’s best to use after your treatment.

The ingredients that make this special

A closer look at the ingredients doing the most meaningful work in this formula—and what the evidence can reasonably tell us.

Gluconolactone

A PHA that gently exfoliates and helps the skin hold onto water.

Read the clinical context

Gluconolactone is a polyhydroxy acid, or PHA, that gently exfoliates and helps the skin hold onto water. It’s usually gentler than stronger AHAs. In a rinse-off cleanser it mainly supports gentle cleansing, while a leave-on product gives it more time to work.

Panthenol

A well-studied humectant that supports hydration and the skin barrier.

Read the clinical context

Panthenol (pro-vitamin B5) has good evidence supporting its ability to improve skin hydration and barrier function by attracting and retaining moisture in the upper layers of the skin. Its soothing effects and ability to reduce irritation are supported by clinical data, making it a reliable ingredient for those with dry and sensitive skin.

More about NeoStrata

NeoStrata grew from the work of dermatologists Dr Eugene Van Scott and Dr Ruey Yu, whose research helped establish alpha hydroxy acids in modern skincare. The brand has continued to develop acid-based technologies, including polyhydroxy acids, alongside antioxidant, pigment-supporting, moisturising and sun-protection formulas.

Its heritage is useful context, but the role and tolerability of each finished product still matter more than the brand story.
