EyeMax gives people who are able to use retinoids a dedicated option for the eye area, without suggesting that everyone needs a separate eye treatment.

It may be useful when fine lines and texture are the main concerns. Hollowing, pronounced bags and many forms of dark circle are unlikely to be corrected by an eye cream.

This product is a little more expensive than most eye creams here. It’s most likely to be worthwhile if you specifically want to enhance your routine with a retinoid for the eye area.

How to introduce it

Apply a very small amount to the eye contour in the evening. Avoid the eyelids, lash line and direct contact with the eyes.

Begin twice weekly for two weeks, then increase to every other night if the area continues to tolerate it well.

If the skin becomes dry or irritated, reduce how often you use it and contact us if you need any more guidance.

A proprietary retinoid and AHA technology used in Skinbetter Science evening treatments.

AlphaRet® is Skinbetter Science’s patented technology, combining a retinoid and lactic acid in a double-conjugated molecule. In a 12-week study, AlphaRet Overnight Cream improved visible signs of photoageing and caused less irritation than 1% retinol or 0.025% tretinoin. Other AlphaRet formulas use the same technology but include different supporting ingredients, so suitability will still depend on the individual product.
