Azelaic acid is one of my favourite ingredients because it can be useful for blemishes, redness and marks left after spots.

What makes this serum especially useful is the combination of azelaic acid, niacinamide, salicylic acid and zinc. It may replace several separate serum steps for people whose concerns overlap.

This isn’t likely to be as intensive as prescription azelaic acid formulations, but it can offer good value when several of its ingredients are relevant to your skin.

How to introduce it

Shake well before use. Apply five to six drops to clean, dry skin in the morning and/or evening. If you are new to the product, begin by using it once daily in the evening.

It smells quite strong when first applied but fades quickly.

Follow with moisturiser if needed and apply sunscreen every morning.
