Dr Max’s view

Why I chose it

To be blunt - putting SPF on is quite a boring step in a morning skincare routine. It’s very much a daily investment in your future skin health but the immediate rewards are often less obvious. Because of this you need to have an SPF that is a joy to wear that makes your skin feel secure, protected and leaves a finish on your skin that works for you - be it sheer, matte, natural or tinted. It’s surprisingly hard to find a product that has mineral filters that doesn’t leave a white cast and doesn’t have any tint but Mesoprotech Water Veil delivers on exactly that whilst giving you protection that you can trust, subtle hydration and just feels amazing on your skin.

How to introduce it

You’ll want to give the bottle a vigorous shake and squeeze out two finger lengths (carefully it comes out quickly!) of product onto your hand to apply to your face (all the way into your hairline), neck, ears and eye lids and massage in gently.

It’s normal for it to look a bit white for a couple of minutes but it’ll settle shortly with no white cast.

Depending on your skin type or how your skin is feeling on the day you may find that with the hyaluronic acid this will suffice as a light moisturiser although if your skin is feeling even slightly dry then you’ll want to moisturise first followed by this.

As with all SPF the advice is to reapply every two hours - I know that this sounds overwhelming but do try to apply as often as possible particularly if you are outdoors, have been sweating, have been in water or have towelled your face.

Guidance continues after purchase. We can help you introduce, simplify or adjust this product.

Inside the formula

The ingredients that make this special

A closer look at the ingredients doing the most meaningful work in this formula—and what the evidence can reasonably tell us.

Hyaluronic Acid

A potent hydrating ingredient that draws water towards it.

Read the clinical context

Hyaluronic Acid is a moisturising ingredient that helps boost hydration in the skin when combined with other moisturising agents. It falls into the category of humectant moisturisers that draw water into the upper layers of the skin. Works best when combined with emollient and occlusive moisturisers.

Vitamin E

A potent antioxidant that helps to prevent aging changes, support collagen production and stabilise Vitamin C.

Read the clinical context

Vitamin E not only helps to stabilise Vitamin C and make it more potent, it also works as an anti-oxidant by itself by mopping up the free radicals that cause damage to DNA, collagen and elastin.

Lupinus Albus Seed Extract

A plant-derived ingredient used to help support skin firmness and elasticity.

Read the clinical context

Lupinus Albus (white lupin) Seed Extract contains peptides and other bioactive compounds that are thought to support collagen and elastin structure. Laboratory and small manufacturer-led studies suggest it may help improve skin firmness and reduce the appearance of fine lines. However, independent large-scale clinical trials in topical skincare are limited, so firming and anti-ageing claims should be considered emerging rather than fully established. It is generally included in formulations targeting loss of elasticity and early visible ageing.
