Why I chose it

Moisturisers are not particularly interesting and for lots of people, not essential either. So if you are going to use one you want to make sure that it is ticking all the right boxes. hydra-vital factor K ticks these boxes.

It has a nice balance of moisturising factors (emollient, humectant and occlusive), is technically well formulated, eases sensitivity and possibly most importantly of all just feels really really good on your skin.

How to introduce it

There is no limit to how frequently or how much you can use Hydra-Vital Factor K. For most people if you’re using it as a daily moisturiser then a large pea-sized amount for the face and a little extra for the neck will suffice either once or twice a day. 

If you have recently had a procedure then you may need to use more product more frequently but be led by how your skin is feeling. 

Moisturising should come towards the end of your skincare routine, either as the last stage in your evening routine or just before applying SPF in the morning.

Lactic Acid

A gently exfoliating AHA that also acts as a hydrator.

Lactic Acid isn’t just another alphahydroxy acid (AHA). Although it does also help to gently exfoliate dead skin cells away, it’s also a moisturising ingredient. Depending on the pH and concentration it can improve how well the skin holds onto water and keep the top layers of the skin soft and hydrated.

Vitamin E

A potent antioxidant that helps to prevent aging changes, support collagen production and stabilise Vitamin C.

Vitamin E not only helps to stabilise Vitamin C and make it more potent, it also works as an anti-oxidant by itself by mopping up the free radicals that cause damage to DNA, collagen and elastin.

Urea

A soothing and hydrating ingredient that helps to calm sensitive skin.

Urea is an exceedingly effective moisturising ingredient that falls into the humectant class of moisturisers. It draws water directly into the upper layers of the skin improving hydration and skin smoothness. It also helps to support the skin’s barrier and reduce water loss.

Allantoin

A potent hydrating ingredient that helps to support the skin barrier and reduce sensitivity.

It’s commonly used in products designed for use after in-clinic treatments or in aftershaves for its calming effects. It falls under the humectant category of moisturisers meaning that it helps to draw water into the upper layers of the skin and keep the skin supple and hydrated.
